FIRE STOPPING SERVICES
Who is responsible for a buildings' fire stopping?
"All building owners, building managers and responsible persons have a legal obligation to ensure the fire stopping in their property has been periodically assessed and is compliant with current fire safety regulations."
What is fire stopping?
Fire stopping is the sealing of openings or gaps in a fire resistant wall, roof or floor. It's purpose is to stop or restrict the passage of fire and smoke from one room (or compartment) to another for a certain period of time. This will allow building occupants more time to evacuate a building in an emergency.
We specialise in all aspects of lift shaft passive fire protection to help you remain compliant with new updated fire safety legislation and industry best practices.
How can UKFSI help with compliance?
1. Initial property assessment with survey:
This will help to identify any areas of missing, damaged or non compliant passive fire protection within your lift shaft

2. Removal of non-compliant PFP systems:
If the report identifies any areas of non-compliance we can then remove/dispose of it ready for installation of suitable PFP.
3. Installation of new fire stopping materials:
Fitting of suitable PFP to prevent fire and smoke spreading through building compartments.

4. Certification of compliant PFP:
We can certify any compliant PFP fitted (new or previously installed) and provide a certification report for you and your client.
